TRANSPORTATION SERVICES IN SRI LANKA

TUK-TUKS

Tuk-tuks are a popular mode of transport for short distances in Sri Lanka. They are convenient, affordable, and readily available throughout the country. Fares are usually negotiated with the driver before the journey.

BUSES

Sri Lanka has an extensive network of public buses connecting major cities, towns, and villages. While buses can be crowded and less comfortable, they are an affordable way to travel around the country. There are also private bus operators offering more comfortable intercity services.

TRAINS

Sri Lanka's railway network offers scenic train journeys through picturesque landscapes, including tea plantations, mountains, and coastal areas. The train ride from Kandy to Ella is particularly famous for its breathtaking views. Trains have different classes, including first, second, and third class, with varying levels of comfort and amenities.

RENTAL CARS

Renting a car with a driver or self-driving is another option for traveling around Sri Lanka. Several international and local car rental companies operate in major cities and airports. Driving in Sri Lanka can be challenging due to traffic congestion and erratic driving behavior, so it's advisable to hire a driver if you're not familiar with local driving conditions.

SCOOTERS/MOTORCYCLES

Renting a scooter or motorcycle is a popular option for exploring beach towns and rural areas at your own pace. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow traffic rules.
